Simple Designer
User Guide
Create simple graphics directly in your browser.
Simple Designer is a browser-based design editor for building image layouts, text designs, printable graphics, mockup elements, and simple marketing assets. You can add text, images, shapes, WordArt, custom fonts, layers, and exports without installing design software.
Quick Start
- Choose a canvas size from Settings or enter a custom width and height.
- Add text, upload images, insert shapes, or create WordArt from the left sidebar.
- Select an object on the canvas to edit its position, size, color, font, opacity, and other options.
- Use the Layers panel to select, reorder, hide, lock, or organize objects.
- Click Export when you are ready to download your design.
Canvas Setup
The canvas is the white design area in the center of the workspace. Use Settings to choose a preset size, enter a custom size, change the background color, toggle gridlines, turn snapping on or off, and adjust zoom.
- Pixels are useful for web images and exact digital dimensions.
- Inches and centimeters are useful for print work.
- Pixels per inch controls how physical units convert to pixels. For many print workflows, 300 PPI is a good starting point.
Adding Text
The Text panel includes quick presets for headline, subheading, body text, and a standard text box. After adding text, select it to edit typography in the right panel.
- Change font family, font size, bold, italic, underline, and strikethrough.
- Adjust alignment, line height, letter spacing, text color, highlight background, and border.
- Add drop shadow or convert text into curved text when needed.
- Upload
.ttfor.otffont files for the current session.
Images
Use the Upload panel to add JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, or SVG files. Drag images into the upload area or use the upload button. Uploaded images appear in the panel and can be added to the canvas.
- Resize, rotate, duplicate, flip, lock, hide, or delete images.
- Use Crop to trim the visible area of an image.
- Use Replace to swap an image while keeping its placement.
- Adjust brightness, contrast, and saturation for selected images.
Shapes
The Shapes panel includes basic shapes, stars, arrows, speech bubbles, thought bubbles, hearts, and other common design elements. Click a shape to place it on the canvas.
- Change fill color, stroke color, and stroke width from the Appearance panel.
- Rectangles include a corner radius control.
- Arrow shapes include solid, dashed, and dotted line styles, plus a double-ended arrow option.
- Use shapes behind text or images to build badges, labels, callouts, and simple layouts.
WordArt
WordArt creates stylized text as a resizable image object. Choose a preset style, type your text, pick a font, and add it to the canvas.
- Available styles include chrome, gold, neon, outline, arched, and long shadow.
- After adding WordArt, select it to edit text, font, size, letter spacing, colors, shadows, outlines, and arch amount.
- WordArt behaves like an image once added, so you can resize, rotate, layer, duplicate, and export it normally.
Moving And Editing Objects
An object is anything on the canvas that can be selected or resized, including text, images, shapes, WordArt, and groups.
- Click an object to select it. Drag it to move it.
- Drag corner handles to resize. Use the rotation handle to rotate.
- Use the right-side Position & Size panel for exact X, Y, width, height, rotation, and opacity values.
- Change the unit setting to enter object sizes in pixels, inches, or centimeters.
Selection And Keyboard Shortcuts
- Drag over multiple objects to marquee select them.
- Use
Ctrl+Ato select all objects. - Use
Ctrl+CandCtrl+Vto copy and paste. - Use

- Use arrow keys to nudge selected objects. Hold Shift while nudging for larger moves.
Layers
The Layers panel lists the objects on your canvas. It is especially useful when designs contain overlapping text, images, and shapes.
- Select an object by clicking its layer row.
- Hide or show objects when you need to work behind them.
- Lock objects to prevent accidental changes.
- Reorder layers to control which objects appear in front or behind.
Saving Projects As .simpledesigner Files
Use Share / Save to download your full project as a .simpledesigner file. This file stores the canvas size, background, units, DPI, layers, text, shapes, images, WordArt settings, and object placement.
A .simpledesigner file is not a finished image. It is a project file that lets you reopen and continue editing the design later.
- Click Share / Save in the top bar.
- Save the downloaded
.simpledesignerfile somewhere you can find it again. - To continue working later, click Open and choose that saved project file.
- After making changes, save a new project file so your latest work is preserved.
.simpledesigner files are editable project files.
Auto-Save
Simple Designer periodically saves a recovery copy in your browser. If a recovery file is found, the tool may offer to restore it when you return.
Auto-save is helpful for accidental refreshes, but you should still save important work as a .simpledesigner project file.
Exporting
Use Export to download the finished design. You can export the full canvas or only the selected object or group.
- Export formats include PNG, JPG, WebP, PDF, and SVG.
- Use scale options for smaller or larger image output.
- Use Export Selection Only when you want to download one object or a cropped part of the design.
- Use Include Background when you want the canvas background included in raster exports.
Privacy And Local Processing
Simple Designer runs directly in your browser. Your files are processed on your device and are not uploaded to a server by the tool. This makes it useful for working with product images, printable designs, and business assets you want to keep private.
