Pattern Generating App
Overview

Create repeating checkerboard pattern sheets from PNG artwork.

PNG Pattern Generator helps you turn one or more PNG images into ready-to-download pattern files. Upload your images, choose the grid size and background, review the previews, and download everything together once the full batch has finished generating.

How To Use PNG Pattern Generator

  1. Add your PNG files. Drag PNG images into the upload area, or select the upload area to browse for files. You can add up to 50 PNG files at a time.
  2. Choose a grid size. Pick 12 x 12, 24 x 24, or 30 x 30 depending on how dense you want the pattern sheet to be.
  3. Select a file format. Choose PNG for transparency support or JPG for a flattened image.
  4. Choose the background. Use Transparent when you want empty spaces to stay clear, or choose a color with the color picker, HEX field, or RGB fields.
  5. Review the previews. Each uploaded image appears as a generated pattern preview once it is ready.
  6. Download your files. Select Download All to save the generated patterns together. The button becomes available after all uploaded patterns have finished generating.
  7. Clear the workspace. Use Clear generated patterns under the download button when you want to empty the preview area and start a new batch.

Choosing The Right Options

  • 12 x 12 creates a larger, more open pattern.
  • 24 x 24 creates a denser pattern with more repeats.
  • 30 x 30 creates the tightest repeat layout.
  • PNG is best when you want to keep transparent areas.
  • JPG is best when you want a standard flattened image.
  • Color background is useful when your artwork is designed to appear on a specific fabric color or surface color.

Tips For Best Results

  • Use clean PNG artwork with transparent space around the subject when you want a checkerboard effect.
  • Upload multiple related images at once when you want a matching set of pattern files. Keep each upload batch to 50 files or fewer.
  • Check the preview before downloading to make sure the grid size and background match your intended look.
  • If a design looks too crowded, try a smaller grid size. If it looks too sparse, try a larger grid size.

What To Expect

  • Only PNG files are accepted for upload.
  • The app accepts up to 50 PNG files per upload or drag-and-drop batch.
  • Files that are not PNG images are ignored.
  • The preview area shows each generated pattern as it is completed.
  • Download All stays disabled until every pattern in the current queue has generated successfully.
  • The download includes the generated pattern files using the format and background you selected.
Helpful habit

Choose your grid size before uploading when you want all generated previews to use the same repeat density.
