Maze Builder
Welcome

Create printable maze worksheets and answer keys.

Maze Builder helps you generate rectangular and circular mazes directly in your browser. Use it to create printable activity pages, puzzle packets, classroom worksheets, and low content interiors with matching solution pages.

Getting started

How to use Maze Builder

1. Enter a maze title

Add an optional title in the Maze title field. If you leave it blank, the printed page will not show a title.

2. Choose the maze type

Select Rectangular for a standard grid maze, or Circular for a radial maze that starts at the outer ring and ends in the center.

3. Select a difficulty

Difficulty changes the feel of the maze path.

  • Simple creates the most direct-feeling paths.
  • Easy favors longer corridors and fewer turns.
  • Medium creates a balanced maze.
  • Hard favors more turns and branching paths.

4. Set the maze size

For rectangular mazes, choose the number of columns and rows. The default is 30 columns by 36 rows.

For circular mazes, choose the ring count. Circular mazes usually look best with 6 to 10 rings.

5. Choose start and end placement

Rectangular mazes let you place the start and end on the left, right, top, bottom, or center. The start and end cannot use the same placement.

Circular mazes always start on the outside and end at the center.

6. Adjust page settings

Set the page width, page height, and orientation. These settings control the page size used by the browser print dialog.

7. Choose mazes per page

Print 1, 2, or 4 mazes per page. When 2 mazes per page is selected, you can place them side by side or stack them vertically.

8. Set the number of pages

Enter the number of pages to generate. Maze Builder supports up to 100 pages. The total number of mazes is calculated from the number of pages and the mazes-per-page setting.

9. Add optional page numbers

Turn on Add page numbers if you want a small page number printed at the bottom of each page.

10. Generate and preview

Click Generate Maze to create the maze set. The live preview shows the first page. If you want a different layout with the same settings, click Regenerate Layout.

11. Save the puzzle pages and answer key

  1. Click Print / Save PDF for the puzzle pages.
  2. Click Answer Key PDF for the solution version.
  3. Your browser will open a print dialog where you can choose Save as PDF.

Pro Tip: Open exported files in a PDF editor to customize even further.
